An excellent nu disco piece is surfacing here done by Burn Studios pro, Andrew Clarke from the UK. His Soundcloud profile tells that he is not new to the music industry as he had been collecting records and playing out during the '90s and after a brief stop, has started all over again, now with trying his skills in production too. Have a listen yourselves! Definitely a BS office favourite of the week! Do you think there's plenty of balearic tone hiding out in this tune?

Biscuit Reality are a pair of shadowy and elusive music makers who claim they're from Yemen. They collaborated with Hungarian producer and DJ Fine Cut Bodies on this authorized remix for Tom Middleton. Musical styles and genres constantly cross-pollinate and fertilize each other. One particularly interesting combination is the combination of where once described as dubstep and grime, but which could be comfortably described as UK Bass and UK Funky now, and house/techno. And it's not just isolated to the shores of the UK, as producers all over the world have taken up the flag and run with it.
French producer Point d'Orgue (which means 'pause' in French) has uploaded a fine example of this more…

GND Records is a free drum and bass/dubstep label set up by DJ Wade and based in the birthplace of these musical genres, the UK.
Loud and Clear is definitely retro in flavour, though that's not necessarily a bad thing. Drawing on the 'rolling' school of DnB it uses many of the stereotypical elements of that sound, the very fast breakbeat, the slightly chipmunk-ized and uplifting vocal sample, the subline played at half speed to the breakbeat. While many DnB producers have made the step to more…

For many younger producers one of their first encounters with electronic music has been through the electro house genre that was so prominant in the early and mid 00s in many countries. Dean Wilks was definitely influenced by it, as can be heard in one of the two tracks he has uploaded so far.
While using many elements of the traditional electro-house sound, Arcade also pulls it some slightly haunting sounds that sit more comfortably in progressive and tech-house. The use of proggy builts more…

UK producer Iron Blu definitely likes to go deep. Primarily making a name for himself in the Balearic scene of producers, one of his latest uploads, Emerald City is based around a deep, spaced out style of what he describes as 'psychetropik house' and is perfect for long, lazy summer days, early morning chill-outs or psychedelic evenings.

London based DJ RJ Harris, who has started producing as Haunted House, has been a previous feature of our blog.
With the current trend for extra depth in all forms of dance music, it's been interesting to see where this leads many producers. While describing his production as progressive house, Deep Jungle doesn't remind you of the sound most commonly associated with that genre. Deep droneful synths built in several layers as the track progresses, evoking late night drives and dark more…

Visionary producers, such as Giorgio Moroder, and bands, such as Kraftwerk and Telex, were the basis of the Italo-disco and Eurodance movements of the 80s which have in turn influenced the development of the techno and nudisco genres of the last 20 years. One subgenre of nudisco has been the "Balearic" sound pioneered by DJs and producers from the UK, Scandinavia, Spain and many of the former Communist countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

We highlighted The Phantom last month but we really dig his combination of bass, funky, grime and house so we thought we'd highlight another track, a recent remix he did for Belgium trio Voltron on Discobelle Records.
This effortlessly danceable jam weaves in and out of a dubby, garage basement sound. Punctuated by a “HA” sound effect that could be equally at home in a Proxy track and a big, big sub, the remix displays what 'future garage' is all about. It's like a drunken kung more…

'What's up Doc?' must be one of the most well known catchphrases in the world, and it was brought to us by the Warner Brothers studio, one of several famous film production studios to emerge from Hollywood in the 20th century. Raymond Scott was the composer for much of the music that can be found in these cartoons, including the infamous Loony Tunes title music, and one of his original compositions provided the inspiration and source material for this dubstep reworking by Celebrity Murder more…
